mac exists to make innovative, creative arts activities an important part of people’s lives. We welcome over 500,000 visitors each year, who come to mac to enjoy theatre performances, music, comedy, plays for children, literature and poetry events, courses, family shows, films, dance performances and free exhibitions.

For the last four years we’ve been working hard to raise the money to refurbish the centre. We needed to raise £15.185m and, thanks to thousands of local supporters, we’re nearly there.

We want you to feel welcome at mac regardless of whether or not you feel you can donate a little something. But when you visit, if you could spare a little loose change (perhaps when you’re enjoying our free exhibitions or free Wi-Fi), we promise you it’ll make a difference, not just to our target but to the hundreds of thousands of people who use mac every year to bring a little art and colour to their lives.
