Arts Council England announce continued support for mac

At what is a tremendously difficult time for both arts organisations and those charged with making cuts to our major funders’ spending, mac is grateful to still be recognised as a key gateway to the arts and to receive sustained funding from Arts Council.

The further support of ACE allows us to deliver a brilliant return on their £6.7m investment in our new £15.2m home, which was delivered on time and on budget. In just 10 months we’ve achieved visitor figures exceeding 720,000 (up 60% on pre-closure figures). That includes over 90,000 participations in arts learning activities. Through our extensive free programme we have seen a clear rise in demand for cultural activity and personal creativity in an increasing age of austerity. In return we offer the region not just artistic opportunity but an economic impact in the local and regional economy exceeding £12m per year. We also see ourselves as a vital part of the creative industries, connecting audiences with artists, working in the diverse communities of this City, and investing in sustained partnerships locally, regionally and internationally.
